Flora & Fauna issue of Dye Magazine
The great thing about having a daughter that loves to participate in photoshoots is that no matter what, she is always excited to create with me, adding in that she attends an art high school makes things even more fun. Dye Magazine is a lifestyle publication concentrated on living life in full color, focused on hair color and styling. Their motto is “Life is too short for boring hair!”
The theme for this issue was Flora and Fauna, making our backyard the perfect location to shoot. I like to think I have always had a green thumb, but moving to Florida just shy of 4 years ago was quite the learning curve. Everything I could grow with ease in our hometown of Colorado doesn’t grow here. A year and a half ago, armed with my new southern climate knowledge, I planted a ton of plants and now our yard is almost always in full bloom with Plumeria, Hibiscus, trumpet flowers, and fire bush.
For her hair, Sloane wanted to do a mix of blue, purple, and pink, and it turned out so good! Please have a look at the final images, I may be biased, but I think they’re gorgeous!
